Imran Khan said, ready to forgive the attackers

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party chairman Imran Khan has said he is ready to forgive those involved in the attacks against him last year. He said this while addressing the party workers through video link after the election campaign started in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab province on Saturday.

The Imran-led government was ousted in April last year. On November 3 of that year, Imran Khan was shot in the leg during PTI’s long march program towards Islamism. The program was announced to pressure the government for early elections. After rest, Imran joined the rally in Rawalpindi on November 26. There he announced the dissolution of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab Provincial Councils. That declaration was implemented last month. And PTI’s campaign has started in these two provinces from Saturday.

Since the attack, Imran has been claiming that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and a military officer were involved in the plot to kill him. However, yesterday, Imran softened his tone and said that he is ready to resolve disputes with everyone.

Imran Khan said, he knows all those who are involved in the attempt to kill him. But he is ready to forgive them. Taking the example of former South African President Nelson Mandela, Imran said, “Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison, but he forgave everyone.” Since his ouster, the PTI chief has been critical of Pakistan’s military, the PDM coalition government and other institutions. He said that they have planned to oust PTI from power. However, yesterday he said that he is ready to discuss with everyone.

Imran said, a politician has to talk to everyone. However, he is not willing to compromise with those who have stolen the country’s money. The PTI chief also said, ‘General Bajwa (former army chief of Pakistan) told me to give them NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance). Who am I to forgive them for stealing people’s money?’ The provincial assembly elections will be held in Punjab on April 30. However, the date of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elections has not been announced yet. Governor Ghulam Ali has not announced any decision yet.
